MSG wordt gebruikt om aroma's van voedsel te intensiveren. Het wordt geproduceerd door een bacteriële fermentatie rocess met
zetmeel of melasse. Het is geen directe smaakversterker maar eencomplexe smaakversterker voor jus,
vlees, pluimvee, sauzen, en in andere combinaties. Het wordt ook gebruikt om thetaste van tabak te verbeteren.
