Alfa-lipoëzuur (ALA) is een organosulfurverbinding die wordt gevonden in de mitochondriën van alle eukaryotische cellen en is een sleutelfactor in het metabolisme van cellulaire energie. Het is ook een krachtige antioxidant die schadelijke vrije radicalen neutraliseert en cellen beschermt tegen schade.
Alfa-thiocaproïnezuur is een veelzijdige anti-oxiderende grondstof die oplosbaar is in water en vet en vrij door het lichaam kan reizen om cellen te beschermen tegen schade veroorzaakt door oxidatieve stress. Bovendien kan het helpen andere antioxidanten zoals vitamine C en vitamine E te regenereren, waardoor hun effecten langer duren.
